Get Credits for Military Training
You may already have earned college credits for training in the military or college classes already taken.
- Prior Learning: You can get credit for DANTES standardized exams (DSST – Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Educational Support) Advanced Placement courses, take College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests, which is now available to all nontraditional students, not just military, and Excelsior College placement tests. You might also receive credit for a portfolio demonstrating your learning or for certificates you have earned through work or earlier college enrollments.Contact a prior learning office near you.
USM’s Prior Learning Office is at http://usm.maine.edu/pla/) - Transfer of Credits: Did you attend college for one or more semesters before stopping? Then those credits can now be transferred if you earned a C or better in the classes. Talk to an admissions person about how to obtain an informal transcript or have one sent formally.
